Yep. It was fun while it lasted.
When I was still in school, I used to be amused at the many suitors who were courting the girls. They all looked pretty pathetic then. Definitely, they did the right things: give roses, give balloons, give chocolates, and go on dates. But everyone knew where the money to spend these things came from: their parents. Or to be more exact: from their mommy's wallet.
Sure, there's nothing wrong about this whole arrangement. But, if you were a girl, you would be less than impressed if you were aware of this. He could make you happy with what he brings but the reality is he's simply feeding off his weekly allowance to win your heart.
The other boys go to more drastic measures. For instance, they bring the heavy gun: a car. But, again, everyone knew who owns the car: their parents. And, if a girl was more inquisitive, then she might be tempted to ask who pays for the fuel.
But that was yesterday. Nowadays, my batch mates have money to burn, money they can call their own (we now have "jobs", remember?). In addition, although most of us live in our parents' houses, we can also live on our own if we wanted to.
So, yes. It was fun while it lasted. But boys have become men. And fathers too (if I may add).
